University ID lace with printed Mayor's logo, name dismay students
MANILA, Philippines – Students from the City of Malabon University (CMU) expressed their concerns upon receiving their university's ID laces that contained the logo and name of the incumbent Mayor Jeannie Sandoval which was contrary to the original design of the ID lace and had since sparked controversy on politically branding items meant for academic purposes.
CMU in its official statement urged the students to remain calm and encouraged all of them to prioritize their learning and personal development justifying that the lanyard design displaying the name and logo of the Mayor is a result of their vision of a cohesive and unified community.
The University's assurance resulted in an uproar among students demanding authorities to exclude the university from their political agenda since the ID laces were paid for by their own pockets and the free tuition they are receiving is funded by the public and should not be linked to political agendas.
