Sara Duterte rejects resignation ideas
MANILA, Philippines - Despite recent House of Representatives impeachment procedures, Vice President Sara Duterte has stated her resolve to stay in office.
"We’re not yet there. That’s still too far ahead," she said at a press conference on Friday, suggesting that resignation is not being considered at this time.
Although she is not personally involved in the process, Duterte stressed that her legal team is diligently analyzing the impeachment allegation.
Duterte is accused of major crimes in the impeachment accusation, which was filed on Wednesday. These include corruption, involvement in extrajudicial executions, scheming to assassinate President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and inciting public unrest and insurrection.
With 215 votes in favor, the House of Representatives exceeded the necessary majority to authorize the complaint. Duterte has continuously refuted every accusation, claiming that they are driven by politics.
Duterte is unwavering in her dedication to her position as the impeachment process progresses, expressing faith in her legal defense and preparedness to take on the challenges that lie ahead.
If her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, decides to join her defense team, she will also welcome his help.
