COMELEC, CSC remind state workers not to engage in political activities

MANILA, Philippines—As the election approaches, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and the Civil Service Commission (CSC) reminded government employees not to engage in political activities.

Comelec and CSC reiterate the provisions of Joint Circular No. 001, Series of 2016, that allow employees to express views on political issues and mention candidates or parties they support.

However, engaging in public discussions about election matters or interacting on social media to solicit support for or against a candidate may be considered partisan political activity.

While said employees have the right to share political opinions, they must avoid actions that could be interpreted as campaigning. This ensures neutrality in public service while upholding their freedom of expression within legal boundaries.
