Wilbert Lee withdraws from senatorial race

MANILA, Philippines - Representative Wilbert Lee of the AGRI Party-List unexpectedly announced on Monday that he would no longer run for the Senate in 2025.

Despite his dedication to his mission, Lee clarified in a press conference that his political apparatus and finances were insufficient for a national campaign.

"As I traveled across the country, it became clear to me that we still lack the machinery needed to reach all Filipinos and effectively promote our advocacy," he shared.

Lee said that more time and money were required to engage voters and manage a successful campaign, despite his best efforts.

However, there were no health issues that led to the choice.

Lee stepped back from his Senate campaign, but he made it clear that his enthusiasm for fighting for free medicine and healthcare will not go away.

Lee hinted to the possibility of a future political resurgence. He left the door open for a second run for a Senate seat by implying that he would compete again in the national elections in 2028.

In October 2024, Lee was the first to submit his certificate of candidacy for the Senate, but he ultimately concluded that a nationwide campaign was not practical at this time.
