DepEd to assess sex ed implementation

MANILA, Philippines – After the suggestion of the House Committee on Basic Education Chair Representative Roman Romulo to suspend its implementation, the Department of Education (DepEd) vowed to review its implementation of the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CES).

DepEd secretary Sonny Angara assured that what is being taught at schools is basic foundational knowledge with no "sexual references", contrary to criticisms that CES teaches and exposes children to "intimacy and reproduction.

He added that they agree with President Ferdinand Marcos Junior that the contents of CES should be reviewed further to ensure that its content is age-appropriate and in line with Filipino culture further stating that the intention of CSE is good and its implementation or execution should also be good.
