CLSU partner with Korean University to establish Sejong Institute

MANILA, Philippines - Officials from Sunchon National University (SCNU) in Korea visited Central Luzon State University (CLSU) on January 12 and 14, 2025, marking a significant step toward international cooperation.

In light of a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), this visit represents a significant turning point in their developing collaboration.

The establishment of a Sejong Institute at CLSU, a facility devoted to instructing staff and students in Korean language and culture, is one of the main objectives of this partnership.

If successful, CLSU would join the ranks of universities in Iloilo, Cebu, and Balanga City as one of the handful in the Philippines to house a Sejong Institute.

Under the direction of Prof. Ki Chang Nam, Vice President for Academic Affairs, the SCNU group visited CLSU's campus to look at possible sites for the new institute and talk about the specifics of their collaboration.

He was joined by Dr. Lovelia Mamuad, a CLSU alumni currently residing in Korea, and academic members from SCNU, including specialists in animal science and Korean language instruction.

This partnership demonstrates CLSU's commitment to fostering cross-cultural understanding and solid international relationships via creative educational initiatives. One of the many exciting prospects that lie ahead for both staff and students is the Sejong Institute, which will further solidify CLSU's standing as a pioneer in international education.
