Imee Marcos opposes VP Sara's impeachment
CITY OF MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Imee Marcos has expressed strong opposition to Vice President Sara Duterte's upcoming impeachment trial, which has heated up the political climate in the Philippines.
Marcos, a longstanding Duterte ally, stressed that the nation should not be fighting political wars but rather concentrating on urgent problems like unemployment, rising rice prices, and insufficient assistance for disadvantaged sectors.
Marcos vehemently proclaimed, "I don't want impeachment. I don't want destabilization. "Ayoko ng impeachment. Ayoko ng destabilisasyon. Ayoko ng revolutionary government. Ayoko ng resignation. AYAW KO NG GULO!" she said. (I don't want a revolutionary government. I don't want resignation. I don't want chaos!")
The Senator noted that the impeachment process was a diversion from the actual problems facing the country.
Her comments follow the signing of an impeachment complaint against Duterte by more than 200 members of the House, who accused her of corruption, fraud, and even plotting against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Sen. Marcos reiterated her friendship with the Vice President and urged government officials to work together to address the nation's pressing issues, despite the tensions between Duterte and the Marcos administration.
