DOTr orders probe into alleged ‘payola’ in LTO

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has directed the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to immediately investigate allegations of “payola” involving personnel within the agency.

Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez issued the order in response to the planned three-day nationwide transport strike by the group Manibela from December 9 to 11.

Lopez said he instructed LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II’s office—through Executive Director Atty. Grace Lacanilao—to address the issue and submit recommendations.

According to Lopez, Lacanilao is expected to provide her recommendations on the matter by Tuesday.

He also emphasized that personnel facing such allegations must be prioritized in the probe, and that any individual found with evidence against them should be immediately dismissed.
