Contractor Sarah Discaya surrenders to NBI amid warrant, flood control scam probe

Cezarah “Sarah” Discaya, the contractor linked to the controversial flood control scam, has voluntarily surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Discaya turned herself in at around 10:00 a.m. at the NBI office in Pasay City, accompanied by her lawyers. She will remain under the bureau’s custody while awaiting the release of the warrant of arrest issued by the court.

Her surrender came shortly after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. publicly announced that a warrant against her would be issued soon in connection with the irregular flood control projects in the country.

“Inaasahan na rin nating lalabas ang warrant of arrest na ni Sarah Discaya itong linggong ito at hindi na rin magtatagal ang pag-aresto sa kanya,” the President said in a video message.

Marcos also assured that investigations into the flood control mess will continue, stressing that all individuals involved in systematic corruption in government will be held accountable.

Discaya is the owner of St. Timothy Construction, a company allegedly linked to anomalous flood control projects.

The President further disclosed that eight personnel from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)–Davao Occidental have also sent letters expressing intent to surrender to the NBI due to the cases they are facing.

Earlier, Marcos announced that Discaya and several DPWH officials will face charges of malversation and falsification of public documents.
