Bato faced backlash after mocking Akbayan Representative

MANILA, Philippines – Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa faced backlash after mocking the facial appearance of Akbayan Representative Percival Cendaña, who is a stroke survivor.

Dela Rosa, in a comment on social media, suggested that Cendaña’s face looked "skewed" and jokingly offered to “balance” it by punching the other side.

His comment drew sharp criticism from the public including health advocates.

The public called it “insensitive and harmful,” reinforcing negative stereotypes about people with health conditions.

Dela Rosa, a known supporter of the Duterte family, made this sarcastic remark after Cendaña criticized Vice President Sara Duterte amid her impeachment.
