DOTr chief Vince Dizon calls for mass resignation of top officials
MANILA, Philippines - Newly installed Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon has requested all current Undersecretaries, Assistant Secretaries, and Directors of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to submit their resignations.
This move aims to provide Dizon with the flexibility to execute the directives assigned by the President, wherein, he plans to reinstate several officials from former DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade's tenure to their previous or similar positions.
Undersecretary for Rails Jeremy Regino resigned in early January, with Undersecretary for Planning TJ Batan assuming the role of Officer-in-Charge.
Batan, who managed the railways sector starting in 2018 under Tugade, may be retained to ensure program continuity, as noted by informed sources.
Secretary Dizon now oversees significant railway infrastructure projects, including the Metro Manila Subway, North-South Commuter Railway, and MRT-7, all currently facing delays due to right-of-way issues.
