COA finds irregularities in NFA's use of P231-M, orders repayment

MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Audit (COA) ordered the National Authority (NFA) to reimburse the government of its cash incentives and rice subsidies amounting to more than P231 million, citing several problems, the COA marked these payments as irregular.

COA stated that the NFA employees' monetary incentives were not determined by their performance. and that there was no appropriate legal foundation or presidential consent for the rice subsidies given to them. Despite experiencing large budget deficits in prior years, the NFA utilized savings to pay for these incentives.

COA's findings cast doubt on the NFA's financial responsibility and point to possible misappropriation of public funds. These anomalies highlight how crucial it is for all government organizations to maintain sound financial management and follow the law.
