'Meteor Garden' star Barbie Hsu dies due to pneumonia, 48
MANILA, Philippines - Famed for her portrayal of Shan Cai in the popular television series "Meteor Garden," Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu tragically died of pneumonia caused by influenza complications at the age of 48.
After catching influenza while traveling in Japan with her family, Hsu quickly developed pneumonia which led to her death. Dee Hsu, her younger sister, confirmed the devastating news and expressed her deep sorrow at the loss today.
The unexpected death of Hsu has created a void among her followers around the world as well as in the entertainment industry. Her sudden death left her two children from her former marriage to Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei—a 10-year-old girl and an 8-year-old son—as well as her spouse, South Korean singer DJ Koo, whom she married in 2022.
