"Malagû: Celebrating Women’s Beauty and Strength Through Art"
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga - In recognition of National Women's Month, the Angeles City Government produced "Malagû," a visual art exhibit that celebrates the beauty, strength, and diversity of roles of women.
The exhibit, which will be on display from March 1 to March 23, 2025, was created in collaboration with SM City Clark, the city's tourism and gender and development agencies, and the local artist collective Pamitipun king Panyúlung ning Kalalangan at Ámánang Kabiasnan Kapampángan.
The phrase "Malagû," which means beauty in Kapampangan, perfectly captures the exhibit's goal of empowering women with art.
Curated by renowned Kapampangan artist Norman Tiotuico, the exhibit features stunning paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media works by over 40 local artists.
Every artwork highlights a different aspect of the feminine, such as resilience, compassion, beauty, and strength. Participating artists include Ailyn Gonzales, May Ann Reyes, Arnel Garcia, Donna Camaya, Gretchen Taruc, and many more, highlighting the breadth of Pampanga's artistic community.
The city officials include Vice Mayor Ma. Vicenta Vega-Cabigting and city councilors led the exhibit's opening ceremony, recognizing the vital role women play in shaping society.
In addition to exhibiting artistic talent, the exhibition offers a platform for conversations about women's empowerment and gender equality.
Under the heading "The Power of Art in Empowering Women," Malagû invites the audience to consider how art may be a tool for social change and a voice for women.
