Late filipino icon Jaclyn Jose honored in Oscars 2025 ‘In Memoriam’ tribute

MANILA, Philippines - In its "In Memoriam" segment, the 97th Academy Awards recently paid tribute to the late Filipino actress Jaclyn Jose, recognizing her important contributions to the film industry.

Jaclyn, who passed away on March 2, 2024, at the age of 60, was celebrated for her extensive body of work. Notably, she made history in 2016 by becoming the first Southeast Asian to win the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival for her role in "Ma' Rosa."

Her daughter, Andi Eigenmann, shared her pride on Instagram, highlighting her mother's inclusion among other esteemed Hollywood artists remembered by the Academy this year.

Born Mary Jane Guck on October 21, 1963, in Angeles City, Pampanga, Jaclyn Jose's career spanned decades, featuring standout performances in films such as "The Flor Contemplacion Story" (1995), "Serbis" (2008), and "Patay Na Si Hesus" (2016).

Her legacy continues to inspire both fans and fellow artists, cementing her status as a true icon in Philippine cinema.
