Luis Manzano’s election run costs him endorsements, Jessy Mendiola backs to work

MANILA, Philippines - Luis Manzano is learning the hard way that politics is not all campaign jingles and handshakes—it is also about losing lucrative brand deals.

After announcing his candidacy for Batangas vice governor, Manzano revealed that at least four of his endorsements pulled the plug, leaving a noticeable dent in his income. “To be honest, marami rin sa endorsements ko ang hindi na rin nag-renew,” he admitted during the opening of Barako Fest 2025 in Lipa City.

Meanwhile, Manzano's wife, actress Jessy Mendiola, is stepping up. “Kaya rin po ako babalik sa trabaho, ako naman po ang susuporta sa kanya,” she quipped, proving that when one campaign door closes, another showbiz gig opens.

Manzano took the financial hit in stride, saying he understands why brands might not want to mix business with politics. However, his wife had a humorous take, recalling an old joke: “Sabi ko dati nung magnobyo pa lang po kami, ‘Ay nako, ‘pag tumakbo ka, hihiwalayan talaga kita.’ E nasaan na po tayo ngayon?”

Now, the whole Manzano-Recto clan was out in full force at the festival, with his mother, Vilma Santos-Recto, and brother, Ryan Recto, also running for office.
