SM Foundation expands disaster relief, education initiatives
SM Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the SM Group, has demonstrated a strong commitment to community support through extensive disaster relief efforts.
To date, the foundation has distributed 982,415 Kalinga Packs and conducted 783 relief missions nationwide.
In 2024 alone, in partnership with SM Supermalls and SM Markets, it executed 41 Operation Tulong Express (OPTE) initiatives, distributing over 108,000 Kalinga Packs to communities affected by natural calamities.
OPTE is SM Foundation's disaster relief program that provides swift assistance by delivering essential medicines and basic necessities to disaster-stricken areas.
SM Foundation also strengthens communities by investing in education, building 110 school buildings with over 370 classrooms across the Philippines. It also restored schools damaged by disasters, such as Sta. Barbara Central Elementary School in Zamboanga City.
Additionally, to ensure a safe learning environment, the foundation installed handwashing facilities and provided hygiene kits to schools.
