PH gov't in talks to prevent Lufthansa Technik’s potential exit from NAIA amid rising lease costs

The Philippine government is working closely with Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) to resolve issues related to a significant increase in lease rates at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

After NAIA's privatization last year, lease costs surged from P14 million to P160 million per month, leading LTP to consider relocating its operations.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon is in discussions with LTP to find a solution that balances the government's contractual commitments with the concerns of investors.

Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP), a partnership between Lufthansa Technik AG and MacroAsia Corporation, runs a large facility at NAIA with over 3,000 employees wherein, the company also provides maintenance and repair services for major aircraft models like Airbus and Boeing.

With LTP considering relocation due to rising lease costs, the Airline Operators Council has urged a delay in the lease increase, warning of financial and operational disruptions.
