Remulla Calls Out Bulacan Gov Over NLEX Convoy Controversy

Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla has called out Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando following reports of an alleged road incident along the North Luzon Expressway that has since gone viral on social media.

Remulla confirmed that he personally reached out to Fernando after receiving complaints regarding what he described as the governor’s “king-like” behavior while traveling along NLEX with a convoy reportedly occupying multiple lanes.

“We have been receiving numerous complaints about Fernando’s king-like behavior when he is traveling along the NLEX, that no one can overtake his convoy,” Remulla said.

According to initial reports received by the DILG, the vehicles allegedly involved in the incident included two Toyota Hi-Ace vans, a Fortuner, and a Land Cruiser, all of which were traced to the provincial government of Bulacan.

“I told him that I received complaints about his behavior when traveling along the NLEX. I told him that this has to stop,” Remulla added, noting that the governor denied the accusations.

Malacañang has also dismissed claims circulating online that a son of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was involved in any form of road harassment during the incident.

The matter has since been referred to the Land Transportation Office for further investigation. LTO chief Markus Lacalinao clarified that no official show-cause order has been issued so far against any driver linked to the supposed incident.

“That is not from us. I am still verifying it. We will give an update, but as of now it is not officially from us,” Lacalinao said.

Fernando has reportedly turned over three firearms and the vehicles involved to Central Luzon police authorities for inspection and verification. Both the firearms and vehicles were later released following validation procedures.

Authorities are expected to conduct a deeper probe into the incident as complaints continue to circulate online.
