DOLE partners with San Fernando LGU, McDonald's to provide jobs for Senior Citizens
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Department of Labor and Employment here has partnered with the City Government of San Fernando and Golden Arches Development Corporation (GADC), the operator of McDonald's in the Philippines, to provide employment opportunities for senior citizens.
The said Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed on February 24 during a flag-raising ceremony at Heroes Hall which was attended by DOLE Pampanga Head May Lynn C. Gozun, City Mayor Vilma B. Caluag, and GADC representatives.
Seniors 60 and older are permitted to apply for jobs at McDonald's restaurants in Central Luzon under this agreement, subject to certain requirements. These include passing medical and physical examinations that confirm their suitability for employment, obtaining a letter of recommendation from the local government unit, and obtaining the required clearances, such as police or NBI clearances and occupational permits.
DOLE provincial head Gozun emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in creating inclusive labor markets, stating, "Let today's MOA signing be a symbol of progress and a reminder that we all have a role to play in building a labor market that values the skills, dedication, and potential of every worker, regardless of age or ability."
The involved parties have also committed to providing guidance and advice on regulatory requirements to assist seniors in their employment pursuits.
