BFAR Central Luzon strengthens fisheries governance with World Bank, NPMO support
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Central Luzon, led by Regional Director Wilfredo Cruz, has reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing fisheries governance and improving the livelihoods of coastal communities.
This commitment is bolstered by ongoing support from the World Bank and the National Project Management Office (NPMO), which are instrumental in advancing sustainable fisheries development in the region.
As the lead agency for Fisheries Management Area 6, BFAR Central Luzon ensured that project initiatives aligned with national fisheries policies and effectively addressed the needs of local stakeholders.
Moreover, BFAR representatives recently met with fisherfolk and local officials to evaluate the FishCoRe project's impact and explore ways to improve coastal fisheries wherein, some fishermen from Subic praised the project for enhancing their livelihoods and supporting sustainable fishing practices.
These efforts are helping Zambales' coastal communities develop more sustainable and resilient fisheries.
