Watsons expands renewable energy use, aims for greener retail operations

MANILA, Philippines - Watsons is keeping its word to advance its sustainability activities by incorporating energy-efficient and renewable energy sources into its operations.

As of December 2024, 95 stores nationwide, along with all distribution centers in Luzon and Visayas, have adopted renewable energy sources wherein, the shift has resulted in a reduction of 338.32 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, the planting of 188 trees, and a saving of 135.74 tons of standard coal.

In 2024, Watsons Philippines launched its first Greener Store in San Pedro, Laguna, marking a significant move toward eco-friendly retail environments.

Additionally, the company plans to expand its solar energy program by converting an additional 30 stores and one more distribution center to renewable energy within the year.

These efforts underscore Watsons' commitment to environmental sustainability and reducing its ecological footprint.
