PAGCOR cuts e-games fees to boost growth, fight illegal gambling

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has lowered the regulatory fees for electronic games (e-games) to foster growth in the gaming sector and curb illegal gambling operations.

Starting January 1, 2025, fee rates for e-games will drop from 35% to 30%, with integrated resorts enjoying an even lower rate of 25% to offset their higher operational costs.

PAGCOR Chairman Alejandro Tengco announced that cutting e-games fees has created a more favorable environment, encouraging unregistered operators to go legal and helping licensed operators expand.

The policy shift has already boosted the industry, with e-games surpassing P100 billion in gross gaming revenue (GGR) by September 2024.

Since fee reductions began in 2023, licensed operators grew by 13.57%, reaching 1,188, while accredited service providers jumped from 49 to 174, solidifying the sector’s growth and legitimacy.

“The e-games industry has become a major driver of the local gaming market,” Tengco said, expressing optimism about its future.

With reduced fees and a more robust regulatory framework, PAGCOR is positioning the sector for continued growth while ensuring fair play and compliance.
