DTI launches first Shared Service Facility in Davao Oriental to boost MSME inovation

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has launched its first shared service facility in Davao Oriental, named “MADE in DAVLAB” established in partnership with Davao Oriental State University (DORSU).

The facility aims to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), students, and industry partners by providing resources for creativity, prototyping, and product innovation.

Located at the URESCOM Building in Mati City, the facility is part of DTI’s broader efforts to enhance business competitiveness through shared service facilities.

DTI Davao Oriental Provincial Director Ma. Joycelyn F. Banlasan emphasized that the initiative represents a collaboration between government, the private sector, academia, and media—aligning with the "pentahelix" approach to economic development.

Since 2013, DTI’s Region 11 office has implemented 294 shared service facility projects across the Davao region to support local enterprises.

In 2024, the agency allocated P36 million for shared service facility initiatives in the region, with P10 million specifically designated for the MADE in DAVLAB project wherein, the investment underscores the government’s commitment to fostering innovation and economic growth in Davao Oriental.
